Dance and movement have always been a huge part of Rachael’s life. She studied for 7 years full time at The Royal Ballet School, London with some of the most world-renowned dancers and teachers. She went on to pursue a career as a professional Ballet Dancer, performing with The Royal Ballet, The Birmingham Royal Ballet and Ballet Im Aalto in Germany. Injury presented an unanticipated change of direction in her life.

As a rehabilitation programme, Rachael studied Pilates daily at Lynne Robinson’s Pilates studio in London and consequently trained as Pilates teacher. The mind and body, correct and efficient function of the body, and how to be happy in your body and life fascinate Rachael.
She has worked and studied in Pilates and Movement studios in London, Sydney, Melbourne, New York and Colorado.

Rachael founded Kendra Pilates in 2006 and opened the studio in 2012. She is now one of only three Level 3 Franklin Method Educators in the UK and the only English speaking faculty in Europe-Rachael teaches the Franklin Method globally, most recently in Costa Rica, Canada, New York and Iceland. Her Pilates classes are ‘Pilates Method meet Franklin Method’ as she loves delving into both methods to create a unique variety in her classes.

Helen Chambers trained to professional level as a Contemporary Dancer at the London Contemporary Dance School, and graduated with BA Hons Degree (2:1).

Helen successfully auditioned to become a member of the post-graduate performance company 4D, the year that Richard Alston was Artistic Director. Over the years she has performed for numerous choreographers such as Kim Brandstrup, Arc Dance Company, Henri Oquike, Jonzi-D and Attic Dance Company.

Helen has worked extensively within both education and the community since 1997. Working as a free-lance artist she has taught all ages and abilities from 5-85 yrs. Her present free-lance commitments include teaching locally for the Dancing Feet Academy.

More recently, Helen has started working for the North Devon Healthcare Trust as part of the highly regarded Neurological Physiotherapy Team based at NDDH. She now works with patients who have suffered strokes and other neurological conditions, varying in ages and severity.

Her role involves working in clinic at NDDH and in the community where she supports patients and delivers various exercise classes and 1:1 treatments. This experience helps inform, influence and enhances her teaching within our studio.

Helen also works at Petroc for 19yrs as Head of Dance, coordinating and teaching AS/A2 Dance, and the vocational dance courses, such as the BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts-Dance. She teaches on the Foundation Degree and latterly, GCSE and AS Level dance for The Ilfracombe Academy.

In addition to her teaching experience, Helen has done a year of Midwifery training, giving her knowledge and insight into to physiological and emotional journey of pregnancy and birth, and some healthcare work as part of the Complex Care Team (working specifically with the Nursing and Physiotherapy teams) within the community. A specific role within this was to facilitate a Balance Class for individuals with mobility and balance issues, to help develop confidence, strength and reduce the risk of falling.

Helen has completed her Polestar Mat III training at Moss Pilates in London.

Ruth has taught dance and movement for many years in the private sector. She has worked extensively with children with emotional and behavioral difficulties encouraging expression through movement.

Ruth was Head of dance for 10 years at Mayville High school in Southsea, Portsmouth. She has choreographed and worked on numerous dance/drama/ theatre productions and took Mayville High School into the premiership league in the Global Rock Challenge competition.

Having trained as a Fitness Instructor, her love of movement and passion for Pilates lead to Ruth training as a Pilates Instructor in 2008.


Ruth runs her own Pilates Studio in Southsea, Portsmouth alongside her weekly commute on Mondays - Wednesdays to the Kendra Pilates Studio.

Ruth has studied with the renowned Kelly Kane in New York, and has attended and been inspired by many Franklin Method workshops. She is committed to delivering the most up to date and informed Pilates tuition, she continues to study and to develop her knowledge, skills and experience.

Ruth delivers fantastic classes in a very warm, loving setting. Everyone feels like they have been well and truly nurtured as well as surprisingly put through their paces after class!

TOM- Guest teacher 

Tom is a Polestar Pilates teacher, a Fitness and Biomechanics Coach, a sports therapist, a Level 2 Franklin Method Educator and Franklin Method faculty in training. 

Tom has a natural approach to exercise, he believes that every person should undertake a variety of dynamic and diverse movements that benefit and work the whole body. Tom teaches group and private Pilates classes and workshops, Personal training, and has a passion for Biomechanics. He emails his private clients with weekly routines adapted to meet the individual's personal goal's. Tom's classes are inspiring and thought provoking, he works with the body's natural design to get the best out of your body in a safe and efficient way. 

Tom enjoys running, surfing, skateboarding, and reading and is passionate about the connection of the heart and mind, how they interact and play a crucial part of your everyday life. 



A passion for truly enjoying the world around us is what inspires and motivates Megan in her career in health and fitness.

As a qualified Pilates Teacher; 200HR Yoga Teacher; and Personal Trainer; Meg’s work ethos is to provide Methods in creating bodies that have flexibility to move freely; whilst maintaining protection built by strength. Meg delivers these practises with intention that they are transferable to everyday life, allowing everyone to feel the happiest and healthiest possible.

The ethos’s behind these Methods are carried through to nourishment, with delicious and satiating food! Megan often hosts food events and shares recipes to help inspire others to fuel themselves with tasty meals that compliment their daily activities.

Having been brought up travelling across the globe, movement has always remained a constant throughout Meg’s life, mainly in the form of Competitive Running and Gymnastics. Megan’s personal experience in exercising towards a functional goal, such as a handstand or a timed run, has enabled endless creativity in her class’s and 1-1’s that allows everyone on an individual basis to appreciate their bodies for all that they do!  

Whilst also being a Sports Massage Therapist, blended with having a keen interest in Sport Specific movement patterns; Megan enjoys creating training programmes for individuals to help best facilitate and compliment their favourite activities, or recover from injury through a preferred sport! In a previous life, working as an Outdoor Instructor at Recreation Activity Centres, Megan also spent time alongside other Rock Climbers, Kayakers and Canoeists, learning further the importance of mindful movement, and body awareness.  

Recently completing a Biomechanics Trainer course, on top of studying Human Biology throughout this past year, with the Open University; has enabled Megan to delve into a broader view of individual movement analyse and requirements within and outside of classes.  

Megan hopes to one day further her studies in Physiotherapy, or a combination of Bio-Mechanical education, to continue in helping people on their journey to enjoying a happy, adventurous and food filled life! Whilst in the mean time, is incredibly excited to grow and learn, working alongside everyone at Kendra Pilates!



Rachael has known Natasha for 14 years and is so thrilled to have such a talented, hard working and inspired new member to our team. Natasha will be participating in, watching, assisting and then teaching classes over the next couple of months and is looking forward to getting to know all of our wonderful students.

Here is a little bit of background information on our new team member... Dance and fitness have always been a massive part of Natasha’s life. Starting dance classes at the age of 2 at local school Dancing Feet Academy and dreaming of a life as a dancer and teacher. At age 18, Natasha was one of the youngest students ever to successfully pass the C.B.T.S. (Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies) teaching qualification with the R.A.D. (Royal Academy of Dance). Alongside this 2 year course of study she also achieved three A levels, her Advanced examinations in Ballet, Tap and Modern and was awarded a scholarship to commence full time training at Millennium Performing Arts, London where she trained for 3 years graduating with a National Diploma in Dance & Musical Theatre. Natasha has since performed in many productions, including those at The London Palladium and The Alhambra Theatre (Bradford.) Working in London she also choreographed and taught TV's stand up comedian Russell Howard for promotional material that was shown across billboards in London and also at a large charity event in the city. Natasha then embarked on her debut cruise contract which was to take her to many beautiful countries including, Norway, Finland, Iceland & Russia. Since then Natasha has been working in the sunshine for TUI’s Magic Life in Kos, Greece as Dance Captain! Performing in their nightly full production shows and leading a team of dancers. In between contracts Natasha loves returning home to Dancing Feet Academy to pass on her knowledge and passion to the students, choreographing for their production shows and being part of the DFA teaching team. It was during Natasha’s time working for TUI that she found a real passion for teaching fitness classes- especially Pilates and Yoga. Qualifying with IFAA as a Group Fitness Instructor she taught a variety of daily fitness classes to the guests, overlooking the beach! Now returning home to Braunton, Natasha feels it’s time to pursue her love for teaching. She’s looking forward to enhancing her knowledge and love for Pilates and is so grateful to be welcomed into the Kendra family!


Claire is our much loved Administrator, working away behind the scenes.  She is happy to answer any questions that you may have and will also steer you in the right direction, whether you are a new client or an existing client in need of assistance- Claire is happy to help. 

Claire works at KendraPilates  from 9.30-11.30am on Monday- Friday, she will endeavour to respond to your enquiries ASAP!

'' I am a married mother of three children. I worked within the Corporate sector in a variety of Customer Service related roles for most of my career before moving to Devon to start a family.

I love living by the sea, spending time with my family and friends. I have realised with age, the importance of looking after myself, so thoroughly enjoy Pilates and have also taken up running with our local club.
